The Hub Opera Ensemble Completes Its Second Season with Bizet's Carmen

The Hub Opera Ensemble presents George Bizet's timeless opera Carmen at the newly renovated Kepler Performing and Visual Arts Education Center on the campus of Hagerstown Community College.
Performances will be given:
  •     Friday June 1, 2012 at 7:30pm
  •     Sunday June 3, 2012 at 3pm
  •     Thursday June 7, 2012 at 7:30pm
  •     Saturday June 9, 2012 at 7:30pm
The Hub Opera Ensemble's mission is threefold: to provide opera to under-served communities, to provide young professional artists the opportunity to hone their craft, and to provide educational opportunities to both budding opera-lovers and talented young amateurs.  As such, the performances of Carmen will feature several young professionals from the DC and Hagerstown area, including Hagerstown residents Francesca Aguado and Katie Jagielski, the former also an adjunct professor at HCC and the latter a vocal instructor at the Barbara Ingram School For the Arts. This production also features an adult chorus comprised largely of HCC students and a youth chorus featuring students of the Barbara Ingram School.

Carmen is the final production of the Hub Opera Ensemble's 2011-2012 season, which also featured a production of Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor in the Fall of 2011.  The 2012-2013 season will be announced in the near future, with the first production currently planned to be Mozart's classic fantasy Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute). The Hub Opera Ensemble is always looking for interested volunteers, please contact us if you'd like to help!  The Hub Opera Ensemble is a registered Non-Profit in the State of Maryland and is currently working to complete the Federal 501c(3) Non-Profit process.
